Softball: The Circle Game

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last weekend’s potentially underappreciated 21-10 display of joyous recreational rigor. Yes, the score would tend to suggest an unsightly shellacking, and yet as a member of the losing endeavor, I believe that the real significance of the game was found in the simple opportunity of belonging to a team that had both a frisky octogenarian and a woman with child. Indeed, as our 10th and final run crossed home plate in the top of the 9th, we could all take pride in knowing that while the dignity of a double digit finish was not quite enough for victory, we had honorably fought for the great range of generations which currently form the cyclical stew of life’s rich pageant.

Despite the goosebumps I get in thinking about all of this, I must confess that I am currently feeling a patina jejune, and thus will dispense with the usual galvanizing gibberish and announce the information that all of you so cherish and crave; There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday, January 30th, at 1PM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Raymond

Softball: 11AM (Athletic Democracy as a Living, Breathing Organism)

Dear People,

So many of you have expressed jitters over missing the 3:20PM opening of the Super Bowl that I have decided to reschedule Sunday’s game for 11AM. And you thought I was heartless….Ray

PS: If you have already committed, I will assume you will still make the game unless you tell me otherwise.

Softball: Rules and Ideology

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, but alas, for those who dillydallied, there are 22 commits, and thus the game is now full.

Please bring $2 for the field, which includes all grazing rights and free admission to my own post-game park lecture, "Socialist Berkeley Youth for Senator Orin Hatch: Where do we go from here?" ….Raymond 845-7552

Sunday 9AM

Softball: Yuck

Dear People,

As you know, my faith in the presence of a benevolent higher being succumbs to the cynicism of 1,000 surly atheists whenever I have to cancel a game due to rain, but the simple fact is that the Codornices infield is now a muddy and festering suckhole of unspeakable filth. Therefore, there will be no match today. Patience….Raymond
