Softball: Flexible, Resolute, Bisportal

Dear People,

Let the record show that seven of our most stout and determined athletes (Chris Fure, Frieda, Jeff W, Capeman, Ehud, Jonathon and myself) played several grueling games of ultimate frisbee on a narrow sideline of verdant chemical sheathing at gorgeous Underhill Field. I suppose we were lucky to get what little real estate we could, since as we frolicked, the Cal women's ultimate team fought hard against Stanford in a sassy clash of mutual cross-bay contempt. Frankly, I think we could've kicked all their asses (if not at ultimate, then at least at croquet), and yet when I asked one of the more approachable-looking UC coaches if we could join in, she sneered at me as if I were the point man for a posse of deluded aerobic pervos. Ya know, it's harsh being marginal.

In any case, I fully realize that intermittent rain is projected for several more days, and that the national economy is apparently falling into the crapper (to use the classic Keynesian metaphor), and that perhaps worst of all, a US military satellite the size of a city bus is soon going to arbitrarily smash into someplace, somewhere, sometime. This last one really pisses me off, if for no other reason than we have no guarantee that it won’t come plummeting down on our very own infield, just as my next team is about to pull off a triple play. Of course these are the types of risk we as a people stoically embrace every week, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Ray

Softball: Grub for Clear Skies

Dear People,

There will hopefully be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and of now there are still three slots left. Assuming it happens, this week’s field fee is just $3, and that includes a braised post-game shoulder of James Ranch lamb, lovingly cooked in the fireplace and served with savoy cabbage and winter vegetables.

Assume nothing/Hope for sun/Check your email Sunday morning…Ray 845-7552

Softball: Sunday 10:02AM: Frisbee/Football it is!…

Codronices is badly wounded by the despicable rains, but I am not about to let you atrophy into wan, jejune, flabby shells of your former selves. I just cherish you too much for that.

SO, there will be an ultimate (and/or football) game at Codornices at 11AM. Please let me know by 10:30 if you’re coming…Ray
