Softball: Derivative of Self

Dear People,

Tender mercies to all for last week’s brutal abscontion of your aerobic dreams, done as it was on a day in which the sun shone as bright as reflective balsamic vinegar on fresh virgin snow. I have to admit that I was a tad miffed by my early Sunday morning sojourn to our cherished homeland, for despite the relatively short duration of that night’s contemptible rain, I cast mine eyes upon vast stretches of perch-infested pondage at both home plate and throughout center field. In all candor, I had always thought of Codornices as blessed by drainage of the Lord, but if this is the best he can do, I am left to conclude that his deistic legacy remains one of both shoddy workmanship and annoying underachievement. I expect better.

In any case, I imagine some of you are thinking that the bottom line is that the last game was cancelled and that they’ll be another one soon, and that’s really all I needed to say, and more specifically, my discursive drivel has been harassing you now for over six years, and enough is enough. Perhaps. But I can assure you that I don’t write words like "reflective balsamic vinegar on fresh virgin snow" just because I happen to "like" the way it sounds, as if I were some kind of total verbal pervo.

No, my friends, the fact is that my reflections on the athletic craft are nothing more than raw writing in its most vulnerable form, and as you all know, writing itself is suffering, and suffering is pain, and thus writing is pain. But that’s OK, because if this logorrhea brings just a little aerobic succor to your increasingly dreary middle years, then my sufferance will naught have been for knot. And therefore, there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…..Raymond

Softball: The Menu

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11 AM, but as of now, all slots are taken. As always, feel free to call for late cancels.

Please bring $2 for the field, which for this week only includes a generous helping of fresh Latvian caviar, baked and soused in a rich cocoa sauce of mushrooms, sage and more Latvian caviar. Excessive, but yummy….Raymond 845-7552
