Softball: Inspirational Yarns of Pure Athletic Focus

Dear People,

My team started off with a somewhat precarious Salida de Gato when my very first two batters, Jonathon and Jonny—bless them both—smashed two searing 1st-inning doubles to deep center-right. The problem was that both studs apparently “misinterpreted” what they had done, and thus, rather then stop at 2nd, both darted pointlessly for 3rd, where they were quickly tagged, pickled and bottled for posterity. It was a humiliating and inauspicious start for any captain to endure, and in all candor, I seriously considered resigning right then and there.

Fortunately, I convinced myself that I was the change that we had always sought, and indeed, my side eventually crushed Chris Fure’s, 12-11, on the most sublime game-winning Bunt-By-Incompetence in the history of our community. And yes, I take a certain pride in being the pivotal slugger who, with two out, bases loaded and the score tied in the bottom of the 9th, smashed a sensual Alan Miller spit ball a full five feet down the 3rd base line! I suppose that my display of clutch marble-muscled manliness was somewhat understated, but I’ll tell ya, it was still deeply satisfying if for no other reason than I only came to the plate after the Millermeter had intentionally walked Mike Davey—a tactical dissage that, in all candor, I wasn’t about to forgive.

Yes, my friends, five intentional balls followed by five RBI-producing feet of blistering go-for-broke power; As the youth under 25 say, it’s all good. Oh sure, they’re a generation of total morons, but I think you see my point. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning… Raymond

Softball: Spring Clocks Forward!!

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and as now it is full. As always, please let me know ASAP if you committed and need to cancel, and for those who still want in, feel free to contact me later for word of any reopened slots.

Also note that this weekend begins or ends or does something to Daylight Savings, which means that you must set your clocks one hour ahead Saturday night before going to sleep. If you forget to do so, you would likely arrive at the game one hour late, thereby causing the entire community to view you as a pitiful chronological dufus.

$3 for the field/See ya Sunday…Ray 845-7552
