Softball: The Edge of a Game Denied

Dear People,

It is Friday morning and we are still SEVERAL players short of the minimum needed. This is the not the time to play coy. As the eyes of the world focus on the fragile cohesion of our noble experiment in athletic democracy, I need not remeind you that Sunday is exactly one week short of the 131st birthday of Cy Young, the winningest pitcher in Baseball history. I think you see my point. Make that commit. Do it for Cy Young, whose inspirational legacy must certainly transcend the fear of rain, the desire for flexibility, and the indifference to communal dignity that has triggered the creation of such unseemly supplications....Raymond

PS: "Grandpa, what did you do to celebrate the Sunday before the 13st anniversery of Cy Young's birth?" ....... "Uh, gosh Zeke, actually I didn't do anything in particular because I was afraid it might drizzle that day, so I didn't commit, and I guess a lot of people did the same thing, because the game didn't happen, which is really too bad because it was sunny that day..." ....... Oh yeah, that will make you look REALLY good in the eyes of your progeny....
