Softball: The Superstars Amongst Us

Dear People,

In one of the most magnificent games in the history of post Neolithic-era sport, Jonny’s team rallied from a six-run 9th inning deficit to beat mine on the last hit of the day, 19-18. Yeah, we lost, and that’s despite the fact that Matt had FIVE homeruns on five at bats with 13 RBIs, four assists and a rare royal flush.

The Matterhorn’s performance was certainly an extraordinary accomplishment, and I suppose you can argue that his feat is likely to stand forever. Still, I believe the raw talent of our little community is so diffuse and deep that his breathtaking fiver merely raises the inspirational bar that we as individual athletes can now strive to exceed. Indeed, I myself actually hit two homeruns in a single game just six years ago, and of course, as I age, I only get stronger, faster and clearly more gorgeous and lithe.

The point is that even though the odds of me hitting six homeruns in any given match are now about 5 billion to 1, I happen to think that records are to be broken, that goals are to be achieved and that the humane but effective intra-inning use of selectively targeted pepper-spray can help make our dreams a reality. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Ray

Softball: A Time to Vet

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11 and as of now there are still two slots left.

Please bring $3 for the field, which for this week only includes a rare post-game opportunity to fully confess to, and then defend, the worst ethical and legal transgressions of your entire life. Yeah, that’s right, before a cynical jury of your aerobic peers…Ray 845-7552
