Softball: The Subtle Craft of Wooing

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last weekend’s explosive 38-22 exemplification of sheer aerobic sensuality, played out as it was under the mesmerizing rays of the rapidly descending pre-twilight sun. Each inning offered a slightly rawer and more nuanced illumination than the one before, as if Manet himself was traipsing naked through the lush sods of shallow left field, sprinkling gentle patinas of genuine French darkness onto that cherished North Berkeley soil.

When one adds in the presence of a half dozen new and mysterious faces, pristine, cherubic, and laced with the determined esprit of jading not known, I think it becomes obvious why my own team had somehow managed to slip from a 12-2 lead to a 33-16 deficit in just four turbulent innings. Oh sure, errors were made and opportunities missed, but that rarefied melange of approaching East Bay dusk and scattered rookie innocence somehow left me with an inner peace of such profundity that it now seems almost trite to ascribe any significance to the final pointage. So let the record simply show that both sides played with panache and grace, and that had I not been so distracted, my side would have certainly won.

In any case, the only available time for next weekend’s game is late Saturday afternoon. Now I obviously understand that this is hardly ideal for those planning the usual and lurid pursuit of godless licentious romance. And indeed, given the intensity with which we all play, I have no doubt that most of you will be utterly drained by the time your dates arrive that evening, leaving the bewildered foci of your lustful appetites both baffled and bitter. Ultimately though, I have a league to run, and cannot be concerned with the heightened risks of acute post-game seduction rot. Therefore, there will be a match at Codornices this Saturday at 5PM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…..Raymond

Softball: Family Law

Dear People,

There will be a game tomorrow at Codornices at 5PM, and as of now, there are still a few slots left.

The field fee will be just one dollar, which includes copious free parking and the gentle rustling of the park’s abundant squirrelage, as well as a pertinent post-game lecture on "The Emerging Role of Drunken Chain-smoking Great Grand Uncles in the Raising of Cuban Children, 1900-1915" …..Raymond
