Softball: The Risks of Titular Authority

Dear People,

In a grueling sun-baked 11-inning marathon that redefined the limits of our communal perseverance, Jonny’s team beat my own on the last stupid hit of the game, 14-13. The truth is that I was playing under heat-induced hippocampic delirium from about 12:30 onward, but I do clearly remember that with the score tied, two runners on and just one out in the bottom of the 10th, our heroic captain-as-baserunner took off from 3rd as soon as bat hit orb on a deeply sensual high fly to mid-centerleft.

The ball in question, alas, was cleanly caught and immediately hurled back to 3rd, and thus Jonny—premature at the plate, utterly confused and feckless as ever—suddenly found himself responsible for a rally-killing double-play that extended this interminable and now bitterly resented match for yet one more steamy inning. Yes, he was both Coach AND Goat, but his team still triumphed, showing once again that at the end of the day, there is no greater poster child for the majestic synergies of grit, luck ‘n’ HEAL (Hircine Excellence in Aerobic Leadership). And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, as long as I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Ray

Softball: A Rare Return to Open Enrollment

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and as of now there are seven slots still left. You are therefore welcome to commit any of the non-community little people who add clarity of purpose to your otherwise pointless lives.

A special note: Franklin lost a Chinese language comic book which has great sentimental value (to him, not you). So if you picked it up after last week’s game, do the right thing, stop pretending you read Mandarin, and let me know.

Finally, this week’s field fee is just $3, and in fairness to the city, that barely covers the cost of the water, mulch and yak-guard….Ray 845-7552
