Softball: Humble Folk Doing Glorious Work

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last week's magnificent won-on-the-last-hit 17-16 exercise in clarion athletic competition. The game was played with such compelling sensual grace that I am left amazed by how the professional leagues---with their $100 box office seats, crass commercial arrogance and catered liver patee---can still attract more media attention than we usually do. Perhaps because we have no salary caps, no salary; just vital and lean softball for a weary nation.

In keeping with our commitment to aerobic excellence without the pretense, there will be another game next Saturday, May 23rd at 12 NOON, at Kleeberger North, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning. While it is true that this match will take place at the beginning of the Memorial Day Weekend, I need not remind you that America's greatest military heroes have made their sacrifices precisely because they believed in the freedom to play controversial and disfavored activities like amateur softball. This is no time to diss the soldiers. Make that commit; do it for the Bill of Rights....Raymond
