Softball: The Gratuitous Ribbing of Honorable Folk

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last weekend’s spellbinding 18-15 battle of protean aerobic attrition. Once again, it all came down to the majesty of a fearsome 9th inning denouement, and while I later wept with relief as my team held on to it’s brittle lead, I must confess that I was transfixed by what transpired deep within the pupils of that last frightened batter. Yes, I starred with morbid fascination as the final pitch of the game crossed the plate, for with runners at 2nd and 3rd, his swing was the arc of destiny itself. And as his tiny little corneas flickered with searing eloquence, the message of those eyeballs was not "I must win," but simply "I must do my best."

Oh sure, he grounded out and blew it all, but I still get chills in pondering the earnest simplicity of the athletic heart. And because of that, and only that, there will be another game at Codornices this Saturday at 5PM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…..Raymond

PS: As the election season draws near, I am worried that your dedication to softball will prevent you from keeping abreast of political developments that will impact our sport, our community, and indeed, our very lives. And it is for this reason, and not because I am officially on the staff, that I implore you to frequently visit Bushoncrack.com
