Softball: A Quasi-official Announcement of my Ultimate Wishes

Dear People,

Chris Fure’s team beat back my own in an unusually harsh display of methodical conquest, 14-13. The fact is that my side would’ve still pulled it off had Frank not sprinted straight into a ghastly rally-killing suicide pickle in the top of the 8th, which, for the record, is totally different from a sacrifice pickle. Indeed, the latter is a time-honored tradition in which a base-runner purposely triggers a frenetic multi-player ambush in order to distract the enemy from a fellow-runner, who can then score in the wake of such tear-triggering martyrdom (To be sure, I myself will often discreetly weep).

Good’ol Frankenstein, however, darted from 2nd with no one else on base, two out and the ball already at short, thereby flouting 300-1 odds that he’d make it even half way down the line. Sure enough, Chris’ entire infield soon swarmed upon his waylaid carcass like a furious cackle of blood-sucking yellow-jackets, and I’m not just saying that so I can paint an interesting literary image from an otherwise pointless act of Nihilistic Aerobic Disgrace (yeah, NAD, as in “Frank recklessly gave up his nads, and I have no idea why”).

In any case, and speaking of carcii, Wendy and I were talking about the fact that when the time comes and she needs to dispose of my residual physical essence (hopefully not before 2090), I’d like my ashes to be scattered about my glorious first base perch. She looked at me with those inscrutable Chinese eyes and then laughed scornfully, reminding me that such an act would brazenly violate the cremation code of every jurisdiction West of Sacramento. Perhaps, but I think we can all agree that once this plan is implemented, that won’t be my problem, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning. . .Raymond
