Softball: The Perils of Vanity

Dear Fellow Athleticists,

Congratz to all on last weekend's magnificent quasi doubleheader (12-6, 7-1), the first of it's kind in our two year history as a softball playing people. Again, we have shown that the clarity of pure kinesiological excellence is an experience as lush as Zen itself. Of course life is valleys along with mountains, and as you undoutedly know, next Saturday is the 120th birthday of Bill Bergan, the worst hitter to ever play regularly in the major leagues, with a .170 lifetime batting average in 3,028 appearances. While we obviously cannot relate to the ineptitude with which Bill struggled for so many years, it is probably wise to nurture our own inner humilities (so easy to lose given the rarefied skill with which we all play). Thus, there will be a game this Saturday, June 6th, at 5 PM at Kleeberger North, if I get enough commits by this Friday morning. Make that commit; Do it for Bill Bergan, who speaks to the humble in all of us...Raymond
