Softball: The Random Musings of a Barren Athlete

Dear People,

In a grueling three-hour pitcher’s duel between Peter and Enid, Chris Fure’s team beat my own, 32-25. In retrospect, it would be hard to say when the Petester finally lost his mojo, though our side’s midgame resolve was apparently weakened by some minor hemorrhaging in the top of the 6th, when we gave up 13 runs on 2 hits, 4 walks and 99 errors.

In any case, even though I am pecking to you from my cozy Berkeley abode—and therefore not technically chained to the computer in my sister’s dank Seattle dungeon—I am currently enduring yet another day of remote familial enslavement. It’s actually quite interesting how a phone, iMac, fax machine and local mafia enforcement can focus the mind on deadlines, book galleys and the richly varied textures of cervical fluid.

Oh sure, perhaps I’m turning this into just one more shameless stab at pre-publication guerilla marketing. Still, I think we can all agree that if the 309 people on this list each got 10,000 of their closest friends to go out and buy the 3rd edition of Taking Charge of Your Fertility and the 1st edition of Cycle Savvy on the very day that they simultaneously come out this Fall (!!), then I’d be well on my way to affording my mortgage, thereby giving me the peace of mind necessary to devote more of my time to your vital aerobic needs. Yeah, I happen to think that emails should arc, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Raymond
