Softball: Another Wound from the Housing Bubble

Dear People,

Jonny’s team treated my own like one of those despicable famished ’gators who toss around their careless wildebeest prey as if they were actually pissed off at the helpless dinner in question. In fact, my team floundered badly throughout the duration of the hideous 21-10 experience, and for what it’s worth, our spontaneous team chants of
L-S-S! ("Let’s stop sucking") seemed to have little if any discernable effect on the quality of our play.

In any case, I was the captain, and thus I obviously take full responsibility for the debacle which befell us. I mean I could say that the real fault lies with Elaine, who abandoned us in the 7th inning, at which point we collapsed into a ghastly abyss or despair and total physical ineptitude. Of course that’s just not my style and I’m not going to do that, but the fact is that her frantic escape to the city in order to condo-shop felt so utterly pointless in the broader context of the aerobic whole. Look, I know that sounds crass, but she even admitted that she was searching for something under $700,000, and yet she still insisted that it include a bathroom!

Sure, and I’d like to insist that Terri and Nanci hit back-to-back homers to deep center-left, but sometimes you just have to face the bitter realities of a cruel and indifferent universe. Of course, for all I know Elaine DID get to that stupid open-house before everyone else, allowing her to make a successful pre-emptive bid on a delightful home in the Height with a fully functional loo. I guess the point is that her premature departure clearly sealed our doom (Indeed, a fragile defense of 8 is the feng-shui of death), but I suppose that’s a small price to pay for a better shot at the American Dream. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11:00, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Ray
