Softball: Blending the Appeal

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last week's resplendent come-from-behind17-12 display of kiniseological grace, seeped as it was in a certain cognitive panache that belies the apparent innocence of the score itself. Rare is the match that melds such copious displays of tactical chutzpah and rugged good looks, and I for one am grateful simply to have been a witness.

As most of you probably know, next Saturday will mark the 98th anniversary of the day that Cincinnati Reds Southpaw Frank "Noodles" Hahn threw his legendary 4-0 no-hitter against the Philadelphia Phillies, which to the best of my knowledge, was the first such feat of the present century. Along with Max Plank's formulation of quantum theory that very summer of 1900, few events have had such a lasting impact on our own culture, at least in terms of how we view boring low-scoring early 20th century baseball games and titillating abstractions of incomprehensible physical reality.

Thus, in honor of Frank "Noodles" Hahn and Max Plank, there will be a softball game next Saturday, July 11th, at 5PM at Codorneices Field, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning. I think it's fair to assume that although Frank and Noodles rarely spoke, they would have certainly agreed that Codornecies is worthy of your commit, if for no other reasons than the virgin clay trimming of the pitcher's mound, and the gentle and abundant quanta that dance friskily among the verdant shrubs of deep left field....Ray

PS: I have a Casio watch that somebody left at the last game.
