Softball: Another Reason to Play

Dears,

My team staved off Ellen’s, 15-13, despite the fact that we faced the fearsome troika of Don Loeb, J.T. and of course, Anthony, who went both capeless and shirtless just to intimidate us with that girthy 19 year-old muscleositude. In retrospect, we were cowered, but not bowed, and after our triumph, everyone feasted on barbecue crab and burgers as well as a cornucopia of homemade salads, succulent veggies and salubrious triple chocolate health-cake.

The point is that the weather was gorgeous, the ambiance superb, and when I looked around at the rich diversity of our roster—with all those smiling athletic faces from exotic locales like China, Cuba and New Jersey—it suddenly occurred to me what was so gratifying about the entire day. Yes, our little international experiment in aerobic democracy was in fact an apt and timely metaphor for the cheery “era of good feelings” that seems to have suddenly broken out this month among all the peoples of the world, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond

Softball: Useful

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, and as of now there are still two slots left.

Please bring $3 for the field, which for this week only includes a brief but intensive pre-game review on the vital roles of tone and tense in modern Thai…Ray 845-7552
