Softball: The Calculus of Aerobic Hegemony

Dear People,

My team gingerly massacred Jim McGuire's, 19-17, thanks in large part to Greg Laddish and his unparalleled display of lethal bat-wielding kick-ass. The fact is that good 'ol Ladder-Lips is a soft-spoken and kindly soul by both birth and temperament, and yet he has the cast-iron deltoids to terrorize from the plate. For this game, he did so by giving us over half our RBIs on five hits, including two singles, two blistering homers and a jaw-dropping 600-foot double that landed so high up on the sloped grassy knoll beyond deep center-left that it actually grazed the protruding and suggestively sinuous trail of the contemptible Hayward Fault (I shit you not!; See http://walkingthefault.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/walk-1-google-earth-overview-xxx1.jpg ). And no, I'm not writing all this just because every place in the narrative load of that last sentence evokes distressing images of calamity-explosive, Dallas-like and annoyingly inevitable.

In any case, the hard reality is that with Michael Davey, Steve Powers and Alan Shabel all going through tragic periods of extended softball-avoidance, we as a parity-craving people currently have no effective way to offset the dominating leviathan that is good 'ol Ladder-Liver himself. Yet not to worry, for I personally have already begun an intensive muscle-engorging regime of kale, organic spinach and raw salt-water taffy. Moreover, I plan to phase up to a solid two push-ups a week, because when it comes to sensible batting equity, I'm all about beauty, balance and brawn. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning. . . Raymond

PS: Another potential approach to our scales out of kilter:

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, and as of now there are still five slots left.

Please being $4 for the field, which for this week only includes a rare post-match pow-wow on the role of polyhedral autogenic structures in the evolution of consciousness . . . Raymond 845-7552
