Softball: A Primer on Managing Familial Expectations

Dear People,

In one of those nail-biting denouements in which the fate of the entire universe seems utterly trivial when juxtaposed against the aerobic drama at hand, my team barely staved off Frank’s, 12-11. Yes, with that razor-thin lead, just one out and bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th, we could’ve easily lost our will, panicked or even felt unclean. Instead though, Ehud pitched some of the finest ball of his young protein-laden life, our infield held fast with vacuumesque focus, and most sublime of all, my own sister finished the game without bringing shame to our cherished family name!

Oh sure, Toni went zero for five, struck out three times and never had a hit that traveled more than four feet from the plate. Still, the way she spun about like a poorly tossed dreidel every time she swung the bat was just so dang endearing. Moreover, while it’s true that she instinctively ran away from the ball whenever she found herself near it, there’s simply no denying that her reassuring presence in the vital tundra behind second base was what gave us our winning edge.
My sister; I think I’ll keep her. In Seattle. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Ray

PS: Speaking of Toni, I can think of no greater goal than the quest for athletic excellence within the context of a revolutionary menstrual education…. http://cyclesavvy.com/
