Softball: Memories of Paris, ’82-83

Dear People,

Let the record show that no matter how many communal newbies it takes to create an aerobic quorum, I simply will not cancel a game once the go-ahead is given. And if that means fielding a frightened Castro Valley father and his two perfectly innocent teenage sons—none of whom had ever seen you, me or any of the other nut jobs that make us who we are—then so be it. Indeed, if that also means ensnaring a trio of young and ultra cool chain-smoking French tourists who had never touched a softball, bat or mitt in their entire froggy little lives, then once again, so much the better.

The point is that Chris Fure’s team staved off my own, 20-16, arguably because his vast foreign reserves were so ruthlessly effective in exploiting the raw recreational synergies of multinational athletics. I refer you to Tristan of Holland at 2nd (“The Dutchmaster”), Chee of Malaysia in Centerleft (“Mr. Borneo”), and of course Florent de Lyon at Catcher (“Good’ol Tar Breath”)—an utterly intrepid debutant who barely spoke our tongue, lit up between pitches and understood absolutely nothing about the rules, and yet, despite all that, was the moral and Gaelic backbone behind their ultimate triumph. Je deviens vachment verklempt quand Je pense a son courage, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond

Softball: Hair

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, and as of now, there is one tiny little slot left.

This week’s field fee is just $4, and that includes a rare pre-match updo with a blow dry and bleach as well as either thermal reconditioning or partial highlights with a keratin overlay. . .Raymond 845-7552
