Softball: Greatness that Endures

Dear People,

My team crushed Jim McGuire's, 20-19, but only after having looked deep into the dark 7th-inning abyss of a disturbing 19-10 deficit. I still get chills thinking about my side's aerobic resiliency, though in the end, I believe we pulled it off almost exclusively thanks to Nanci, who came out of retirement to play her first game in nearly two years! Oh sure, some unscrupulous pervo must have spiked her mitt with a treacherous patina of butterized industrial Vaseline, yet her contribution to any given triumph has never been “about” fielding or hitting (and certainly not running, if you catch my drift).

OK, fine-82 errors. But who's really counting?!

The point is that the Nanciator was the moral backbone of this entire community from 2002 until her adoption of competitive javelin in 2008 (see http://www.eslnotes.com/ray/102004.html), and as she showed this past weekend, the power of her galvanizing spinal transcendence has not faded at all with the passage of time. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond

PS: As you know, Pace is not only the fastest athlete amongst us, but in many ways, he's been the moral backbone of this entire community for at least the last decade. Whatever. I mention this because he's going to soon be running his speedy little ass off for cancer research, and if nothing else, you should consider supporting him since he's so utterly gorgeous in pink….

Softball: My Favorite Faith

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, and as of now there are still four slots left.

Please bring $4 for the field, which for this week only includes my long-awaited post-match seminar on your basic Wiccan childbirth rituals…Raymond 845-7552

PS: History rocks!...
