Softball: Tampa

Dear People,

In a deeply nuanced pitcher's duel of spare and brooding complexity, my team exsanguinated Chris Fure's, 7-3. Jerry was Koufaxesque on the mound, with a rarefied blend of screw, spit and Eephus balls that left Chris's entire roster floundering at the plate (Yeah, Eephus balls). Of course Steve Bedrick was nearly Jerryesque in his own masterful way, yet we grabbed Big Mo when Alan Berger smashed a staggering 3rd-inning community-debut homer into the takin-laden tundra of deep center-left. I suspect that Alan was galvanized by the inspiring familial presence of teammates Alan Shabel and Alan Miller-both 5th cousins twice removed thru a tragically annulled marriage on his nutso great auntie's side.

In any case, it was quickly discovered that the Bergster had used a technically illegal composite bat (what the great Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleyev referred to as “an inorganic monstrosity and the most lethal stick in all of sport”). Yet I believe that Alan had no idea what he gone did, for after looking deep into his befuddled little pupils, I could instantly tell that his actual intent was as pure as virgin myrrh. Indeed, I happen to believe it was this very purity that inspired Debbie in her own feat of Bedrick-bashing greatness, for she went a blistering five for five on four at bats, uncanny focus and a tiny smidgen of literary license.

And speaking of truthiness, I've been watching the various speeches
from Florida this evening, and like Senator Santornut, I also look forward to getting big government off of our backs with a modest national agenda of, among other things, banned abortions, increased self-deportations, the end of gay marriage, an intensified drug war, robust States' rights (outside the context of actually expanded individual freedoms), climate-change denial, substantially larger pentagon spending, more sagacious military adventures, unabashed voter-suppression and best of all, more principled Justices like Antonin Scaliasss, who, by pure jurisprudential coincidence, recognizes that the U.S. Constitution can only be reasonably interpreted as totally down with this enlightened faith-based Republican vision of American small-government exceptionalism! Just sayin'.

The point is that this league will always be a thriving aerobic community of strictly delegated powers, though of course I will continue to use my shamelessly arrogated authority to shut down any close-play bickering by efficient, sudden and breathtaking fiat. And therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, If I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Raymond
