Softball: Another Argument for Reinstitutionalization

Dear People,

Congratz to all on last week’s tension-wrought 19-11 journey into the dark aerobic underbelly of the urban recreational experience. For the record, my team was solidifying its already robust 16-10 lead in the top of the 7th when the solemn integrity of our cherished center-right grazing grasses was pierced by an apparent escapee from The Berkeley Association of Truly Annoying Psychopaths (BATAP). The particular wacko in question was a feisty 60-something waif who refused to budge from the lush tundra beyond 2nd base, proceeding instead to spastically taunt us with her ominous plastic-lime-green-stick-thing. At one point, she stopped the game cold by actually proclaiming her sovereignty over our entire field, and even worse, her stupid-ass mutt seemed to relish her master’s outrageously brazen power grab.

In retrospect, of course, the richly textured emotions behind her initial rants of "fuck you" were probably not assuaged by Broh’s loud and perky retort of "Lady, I wouldn’t fuck you if you were the last thing on earth." Indeed, to the extent that constructive engagement was still a plausible option, this exchange may have set the wrong tone. Fortunately, though, Michael D. and Jeremy soon reinforced our ranks, engaging her in a fearsome shouting match in which I honestly think that they fought her to at least a draw. And yes, within another 20 minutes she had vanished from the park, proving once again that if push comes to shove, we as a people can prevail against the vast majority of frail and elderly loons. And therefore, there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Raymond

Softball: Stuff

Dear People,

There will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11, and as of now there are still THREE slots left.

Please bring $2 for the field, which for this week only includes a special post-Halloween basket filled with fine chocolates, eau de toilette and a generous assortment of freshly baked ceramic clays….Raymond
