Softball: The Varied Roads to Joy

Dear People,

Jonny’s team staved off my own, 19-15, proving once again that when the stars are properly aligned, even utterly feckless leadership can be fully overcome. In any case, I would gently suggest that the moral victory was ours, if for no other reason that after Bad’n’Burly Tom O. blasted a blistering 6th-inning bullet right to second base, Nanci made the greatest stop-on-a-single-hop that I’ve ever seen, and I’m not saying that simply because she did so with nothing more than her upper-sternum and bosom.

Now I know you’re probably thinking that using a mitt would have been "easier," and in truth, her face and breathing did seem somewhat strained in the ensuing seconds. Yet the bottom line is that she still nailed Tom at first, and regardless, the Nanciator’s tactical gamble was merely part of a long and venerable tradition in which so many of our cherished players have followed their own aerobic bliss. Sure, there’s the multi-colored bruise, but it’s all about the bliss, and therefore there will be a game at San Pablo #2 this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning…Raymond
