Softball: A Hurried Appeal

Dear People,

It is 10AM Friday and we are still SEVERAL players short of minimum quorum for tomorrow’s game. I understand that many of you are feeling overwhelmed by the brooding nimbostratus clouds that cover our skies, and the ominous drizzle that threatens to turn our beloved Codornices infield into a filthy suck swamp of mud and misery. I understand that. However, I have been in regular contact with my sources at the Office of Climatological Risk at the Latvian Consulate in Livermore, and I can assure you that the situation is well under control, the drizzle will soon end, and the sun will come out tomorrow. So please, keep hope alive and make that commit. Gotta run; Update late this afternoon….Ray

Softball: Stark Reality

Dear People,

As you know, my eyes swell with the tears of 1,000 abandoned baby wart hogs whenever I have to call off a game, but the simple fact is that after jogging past the field, it quickly became apparent to me that there is no way Codornices will dry out sufficiently by tomorrow morning. Therefore there will NOT be a game tomorrow.

In addition, I will not be able to organize anything next week, since I’ll be back East. However, when I get back, we will probably be able to start playing at Kleeberger again, which will give us more flexibility during the rainy season (Games will be $2-3 per player, since free reservations have been phased out).

Happy Thanksgiving to all….Raymond

A long-shot PS: If seven other people get back to me by late tonight, I would be up for a touch football game either at Kleeberger or Codornices at 11AM. Leave your phone #s, and I will contact you personally if enough people commit.
