Softball: Turkeys and Transitions

Dear People,

Jonny’s team crushed my own 22-17, but that’s not important now. The harsh reality is that it’s 12:30AM, I have little time, and as I wearily peck these very words, I once again find myself in the dank basement dudgeon of my sister’s Seattle abode. I am also queasy and frightened, in large part because various Weschler familial units will soon converge for our annual Thanksgiving feast, or as I like to call it, Loonmeal.

Truth be told, Wendy and I now face an annoying overexposure to clinical psychosis. Still, I am guardedly optimistic that we will make it back to Berkeley with little actual trauma, and therefore there will be a game at Codornices this Sunday at 11AM, IF I get enough commits by this Friday morning….Ray

PS: In addition to the usual aerobic endeavors, there will be a post-match send-off pizza lunch for Alex, who, it is my sad duty to announce, will be playing his last game with us before moving back to Massachusetts. Alex has been one of our vital middle-tier players for many years, and while he is not the moral backbone of the community (that, obviously, would be Nanci), he is a worthy hitter, a decent fielder, a gentleman and a mensch.
